How to Leave a Book Review
If you read a book and you LOVE IT, for goodness sake leave a book review and share the book with your friends, colleagues, and family.
Maybe you've already written hundreds of book reviews. If you have, great--you definitely do not need to be reading this blog post.
If you are brand spanking new to the book review scene, then you're in the right place. Welcome! There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Reviewing a book easy peasy, and I'm going to try to make it even easier.
Here's the low down: authors need book reviews. Reviews give books merit, credence, and show value to potential customers, which allows them to make an informed decision that they can feel proud of before making their purchase. Book reviews can do more than that though. The more reviews a book has, the more persuasive pull it has on potential readers. AND an mammoth amount of reviews can actually get a book in front of WAY more potential readers' eyeballs, which can really help a book launch into orbit.
All in all, your reviews matter and carry an enormous amount of weight. So, while this process is easy, do not take it lightly. Your opinion really does matter.
Okay, let's cut to the chase.
Here are the steps to leaving a book review:
Step 1: Read the book. Yes, I know this is obvious, but please make sure you do it.
Step 2: Write your review in your notes app on your phone or in a doc on your computer. This is the easiest way, I promise.
Things to consider when writing a review:
What parts did you like?
How did it make you feel?
If it's a children's book: What was your child's response to the book? How did you like the book from a parenting perspective?
What were your main takeaways?
Would you recommend the book?
